Training Report of Rajya SBM-G - Chhattisgarh
SBM(G) Phase II is not just about constructing infrastructure for ODF Plus villages but aims at behaviour change of the masses to adopt better sanitation and hygiene practices. Following the achievement of ODF status in rural communities, the capacity of key stakeholders at State, district and block levels needs to be built to plan, implement and monitor ODF Plus activities.
An infallible way of ensuring ODF sustainability in a Gram Panchayat (GP) was to setup community sanitary complexes (CSCs) in public spaces to cater to visitors and the floating population. Acknowledging this, the State Sanitation Committee of the Government of Punjab organised a mass construction drive, calling upon the rural communities to build CSCs and take up Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) initiatives to result in visual cleanliness of their villages.
