UNICEF Supports Government of Jharkhand Certify 150,000 Teachers for School Re-Opening

UNICEF provided technical support to the Government of Jharkand to develop state-specific standard operation procedures (SOPs) for reopening schools, with a specific focus on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services in schools. UNICEF developed an online training modules and pushed it through the existing Swachh Vidyalaya Swastha Bachhe (SVSB) application. As a result 150,000 teachers have been trained and became “WASH Champions" of the school re-opening process.
To generate massive mobilisation of citizens in rural areas and create mass awareness on ODF Plus as well as its solid and liquid waste management centric components, the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) under Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen Phase II has launched a National Film Competition on ODF Plus.

With a view to teaching students as well as the elderly about the proper and efficient way of collecting garbage, segregating waste, producing compost at home and curbing the use of plastic, the District Administration of Siddipet in Telangana has launched a Swachha Badi (Cleanliness School).
