Community soak-pits in Mansa schools
The district administration of Mansa in Punjab has taken the initiative of constructing soak pits in 53 schools. The soak pits when completed will cater to waste water near drinking water sources in the school as well as waste water generated from washing of Mid-Day meal utensils.
Given that surface water and ground water are an integral part of the water cycle, a need was felt to institute unified National Water Awards with the objective of encouraging stakeholders to adopt a holistic approach towards water resource management in the country. After the successful implementation of National Water Award 2018, the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti is organising National Water Awards 2019.
